Before you join

How do I pick what type of volunteer work I sign up for?

You don't, and that's intentional. The goal isn't to give you another calendar to scroll through. It's to make it easier to actually go.

You tell us when you're free and where you want to be. We find something worth doing, handle the logistics, and send you the plan. You still decide whether you're in.

Allergic to cats? Let us know. Would rather get a root canal than work with kids? No problem. Fill out your profile and we'll take that into account.

Fewer decisions. More time doing something that matters with good people.

How much time should I plan for?

About two hours volunteering, plus an optional hour to hang out after.

We might grab food or drinks, play a game, or do something nearby. The social part is always optional, but you might have FOMO if you skip it.

If an experience needs more time, we'll tell you before you RSVP.

What should I expect when I get there?

Most people arrive on their own. That's the norm here, not the exception.

We keep groups small, usually around five to seven people, so it's easier to actually talk and get to know each other. At bigger volunteer events, we break into smaller groups so it still feels personal.

Most of what we plan requires no experience or training.

We'll tell you what to wear, what to bring, and anything else you need to know before you show up.

The donation

Why is it asking for a donation?

Your donation turns your RSVP into a real commitment, which means fewer no-shows for the nonprofit and the other people counting on you.

We don't keep any of it. It goes directly to the nonprofit and supports the work we're showing up to do. We also circle back with the amount we've raised and what the nonprofit plans to do with it.

You're not paying us to volunteer. You're donating to the cause and committing to show up.

If the donation isn't doable right now, reply to one of our emails and we'll figure something out.

On the day

Where do events take place?

We'll tell you the neighborhood before you RSVP and send the exact meeting details once you're confirmed.

What if something comes up and I have to cancel?

Life happens. Let us know at least 48 hours ahead and you can join another experience within 30 days.

Your donation stays with the nonprofit you originally committed to either way.

Everything else

What makes someone a "good human"?

You don't have to be perfect. You just have to show up, be kind, and treat the people around you with respect.

After each experience, we privately ask how it went. That feedback helps us keep With Good Humans welcoming, thoughtful, and fun to be part of.

We never share what you tell us with other participants.

I'm not in Chicago. Can I still join?

Not yet. Tell us where you are and we'll let you know when With Good Humans gets there.

I run a nonprofit. Can we work together?

Absolutely. We're always looking for meaningful volunteer experiences where a small group can make a real difference.
